What is Mac OS X Server 'Rhapsody' DR1 + DR2 (Intel x86 + PPC)? 'Rhapsody' DR1 and DR2 were the developper releases (beta) of what would soon become Mac OS X Server 1.0 and then Mac OS X 10.0. Rhapsody is a software product, named NeXTSTEP from 1989 to 1997, that Steve Jobs developped and brought back to Apple after a decade of absence from his own company he founded in 1976. In essence, Rhapsody is a derivative of OPENSTEP, which is a derivative of NeXTSTEP, developped by NeXT, Steve Jobs other company he ran between 1986 and 1997. Starting from DR1, it was renamed from OPENSTEP to Rhapsody 5.0 (and 5.1 for DR2). There never was a consumer, or home users, version of Rhapsody per se, until the year 2000 when Mac OS X 10.0 Public Beta was released (or winter of 2001 when Mac OS X 10.0 'Cheetah' officially came out) which base code included parts of Rhapsody. These two versions: DR1 (codename 'Grail1Z', 1997) and DR2 (codename 'Titan1', 1998) were the first and only ones that supported both Intel x86 and PowerPC architectures. See the downloads below for each separate CD image version. Note that real hardware support is very limited and even emulation is not working well with all emulators either.
